Thursday, June 26. 2008Great Grandkids  Monday, June 23. 2008First Tomato We picked our first tomato Sunday We had our FIRST BACON TOMATO SANDWICH of the summer for supper Sunday BOY was it ever good Not sure if the tomato was really that good or just because it was OUR FIRST! While Ethel is away sometimes Fred comes and stands by and watches the eggs....well today I managed to get a picture of them both at the nest.
I think it takes about 2 weeks for eggs to hatch so we must be getting close.  CLICK on photo to see larger...you kinda have to look close to figure it out. Mom is nestled in the nest and Dad is standing on side. "GREAT" GRANDKIDS CAME OVER TODAYOH WHAT FUN! You can tell it doesn't take much to entertain us The boys even did some hand sewing for me    
Friday, June 6. 2008UPDATE on ETHEL (momma robin)
Back in April we had so much rain and wind and storms that poor Ethel gave up building her nest in our flowering crabapple tree.
Later on we noticed a robins nest way back in the back of the yard and in a taller more substantial tree. Far enough back that we could not see or keep track of her. Well last week "Ethel" shows up in our little flowering tree and rebuilds the original nest. We are pretty sure its the same robin because she has some white markings on her breast that the others around don't have. Here she is sitting in her NEW/OLD nest and "YES" we peeked and there are 2 little blue eggs in there. ANYWAY we are glad to have her back in our little tree where we can see her and can't wait to see the little ones heads looking out waiting to be fed.
