Our neighbors put their doghouse in the corner so he could see who he's barking at!
Isn't that 'thotful'?
He barks every time I go outside...
and at midnite....
and 2:00 AM...
BUT he is kinda "cute" in this picture
He has 2 little buddies but they are too small to get on the doghouse
So they just BARK when he does!
We left on June 1.
Our ultimate goal was to go to Anchorage to see the Grandaughter and family.
We tried to see everything between here and there going up and on the way home.
I have earlier blog post about our visit with the kids.
Our trip took us up thru Nebraska, the Dakota's and Canada.
For the most part we had great weather. Only a couple of days of rain on our way home.
At least a whole lot better than we came home too.
We kinda took our time going up...we needed to be there by the 11th to spend a long weekend with the kids.
In between weekends we drove to Homer Alaska to have our halibut dinner...actually we stayed there long enough for 2 dinners. WOOWOO
I luv that little town and could eat the halibut everyday.
The place we like is a very small cafe and the halibut is on a skewer and deep fried with a very light batter.
Then we came back and stayed another weekend with the kids.
We left on Sunday and drove on out of Alaska and then thru Canada a different way.
Drove into Washington State and then went on over the Roosevelt Lake.
We'd driven thru there one other time but this time we stayed a few days.
We hit Idaho's Hell Canyon and Wyoming's Grand Tetons.
We were in Nebraska for the 4th of July and didn't have many fireworks to contend with because they weren't allowed. HA RIGHT!
Somehow some managed to get some in but it was quiet at bedtime
Wish I could say the same for home....
when we drove in on July 5th our street looked like a war zone.
The street was covered with spent fireworks and it looked like they aimed them all at our house. We are still picking up fireworks out of our yard.
We had a great trip but I miss the kids already... maybe even more if that is possible.
We were getting used to the 60 and 65 degree temps and came home to the 100's.
I guess I'm getting "OLD" because its taking me alot longer to recoop.
I took over 500 pics but have narrowed it down "alot". I had alot of fun with my newer camera. I actually took the instruction book and read it and learned some really neat new stuff about it. ENJOY my pictures...I enjoyed taking them

Don't care what Husband says "I DID NOT TAKE A PICTURE OF EVERY FLOWER"
I missed a few!
FINALLY made it to Anchorage to see "THE KIDS"...its been 210 days since they moved (Yes I'm counting)
Tara fixed dinner our first nite there....she is a 'very good cook'. After dinner we went to COLD STONE for ice cream. After we got there and everyone ordered we realized they didn't have enough places for us all to sit so we hurried back to their house to eat it before it melted.
We had all these plans of things to do while we were there but due to circumstances beyond our control some didn't work out. First Tara's car broke down, there was rain, cold, a marathon but we still had a great time.
Orlo is taking nite and weekend college classes to become a "Phlebotomist " so both weekends we were there we went to his school and "let him practice drawing blood"
AND he's very good at it too.
Second nite we took sub sandwiches and chips for dinner. Saturday we took the kids shopping. Sunday we had a family dinner at Orlo's Uncle Shayne and Aunt Ethel's.
Was nice to meet some of Orlo's family Monday we drove on down to Homer. We came back on Friday. We thot we'd surprise them and took some ice cream and when we got there Tara was making brownies. OH YUMMM... After we stuffed ourselves we walked over to the kids school. They played on the playground and burned up some of their energy. Saturday we drove up to Mt. Flat Top which has a really great view of Anchorage...but it was ohhh so cold and windy. That evening (our last there) we went out for dinner at "Gwennies Old Alaska Restaurant".The chicken fry's are to die for. Went back to the house for our last hugs and goodbyes.
I found out that second time goodbyes are NOT any easier.
Whoever said "parting is such sweet sorrow" was not a Grandparent!
THX Kids for a great time.....was just too short.
see ya next summer (if not before)
